I am in a hearis liknes now

I am in a hearis liknes now is from my ongoing Caressing the marble and stone iteration project. This book collages selected lines from 4 texts and combines them into one voice. The one voice blurs WW1 clay tunnelling techniques with the clay-based spells of Isobel Gowdie and Janet Breadhead. The spaces where these clay-based processes are carried out are imagined through lines extracted from Foucault’s Heterotopias writings and Lucky’s second sentence from Waiting for Godot. The book has three sections based on the transformation of spades playing cards suits from German Leaves to French Pikes to English Spades.

Caressing the marble and stone is an ongoing transformation-based project. It is an artist book in flux which will see me remake and transform the book as different iterations. The book’s title is a line from a Joy Division song which relates to content of the book themes and the formation of the project.
